This painting is by Betsy Eby, an encaustic artist who works on the coast of Washington State and summers in her studio on the coast of Maine. From my own experience with encaustic, I found it easy to create a textured, sensuous surface, but Eby creates such smooth, almost glassy surfaces in her work that I want to meet her paintings in person and touch them!
