Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis started as autobiographical graphic novels (say that 3 times fast), telling about life in Iran as the Iranian Revolution took hold, but from her perspective as a 9-year-old. The books are extremely engaging, and the juxtaposition of such heavy content with the comic book line drawings was refreshing. I read them about 3 years ago and was really happy to see that she created an animated film from her story. I recently saw the film at the Enzian theatre here in town, home of the Florida Film Festival.
